The Minnesota Zoo is located at 13000 Zoo Boulevard in Apple Valley, MN. This zoo has over 2300 animals of 447 different species. Their mission is "to connect people, animals and the natural world." They are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, so you can feel comfortable knowing you are supporting a zoo which abides by certain rules and provides the best environment possible for the animals that make the zoo their home.

The zoo is divided into specific sections, each with its own walking trail. Visitors can traverse the Northern Trail, Tropics Trail and Minnesota Trail which offer a look at the unique animals of each section. Other areas include the Discovery Bay and the Family Farm, both of which give visitors a chance to see extraordinary animals and learn about each species. In addition, the zoo has an IMAX theater which features a variety of amazing shows, such as dinosaurs in 3D, lions in 3D and popular movies in the IMAX experience.

The zoo offers several different fun and exciting shows for you to see while visiting the zoo. These shows include a bird show and a dolphin show. Visitors can also view a coral reef with its many inhabitants and watch a shark feeding. The zoo also features the Minnesota Zoo Monorail, which offers a chance to view some of the animals of the Northern Hemisphere from up above. Some of the animals you can see include camels, musk ox, Siberian tigers and moose. The monorail is open every day and a ride on the monorail is $3.50 for anyone ages three and older.

The zoo has a variety of activities and special events scheduled throughout the year. Some of these events include special promotional weekends with reduced admission prices, Children’s Day, Butterflies and Blooms, the Beastly Ball, and Monarchs and Merlot. There are events for everyone in the family. The Minnesota Zoo has a gift shop, a food court and a café for dining options and for souvenirs of your trip to the zoo.

The Minnesota Zoo is open every day of the year except for Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. The zoo hours are from 9:00 a.m. to either 4:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. depending on whether it is a weekday or weekend, and also depending on the season.

Admission prices are as follows: children ages 2 and under are admitted for free, children ages 3-12 are admitted to the zoo only for $7 or both the zoo and IMAX theater for $13. Adults ages 13-64 are admitted to the zoo only for $12 and the zoo and IMAX theater for $19. Seniors ages 65+ are admitted to the zoo for $8.25 and the zoo and IMAX theater for $14.25.
