Opened in 1902 the Opera House has had a long history of providing entertainment for the area.  Although Opera has rarely been performed in the Fairmont Opera House, there have been many other types of performances.  Opera is the name that was given to a number of theaters in the time since to be part of the theater was unbecoming but being part of the Opera was acceptable.

The Fairmont Opera House is proud to present season after season of live performances in this historic theater that has been totally restored to its original grandeur.  The building is now used for local and professional plays, live music and arts performances, local events, and private receptions and gatherings.

The building is listed on the National Registry of Historic Sites.
