86 miles of non-motorized, paved trail between Two Harbors and Grand Marais, Minnesota provide visitors and residents with an alternative to riding bike on Hwy 61.   Currently  the trail is completed between Silver Creek Cliff Trail and Gooseberry Falls State Park for a total of 21.2 miles are completed with the rest on schedule to  be completed  in the next few years.

The Gitchi-Gami Trail Association hosts the Annual North Shore Bike Ride.   It is used as a fundraising event to help in getting the trail completed.  The association is a non profit group.

The ride is held in Mid-August.  Registration will begin for the ride at 9 a.m. and continue to 10:30 a.m.  All riders are requested to depart by the 10:30 a.m. time.  There are two rides, one 28 miles long and oe 55 miles long.  The rides are designed to allow bikers rest stops and turn around at any spot along the way to return to the starting point.  Adult riders receive a T-shirt regardless of the length of the ride that they have completed and the younger riders receive a water botte.

Pre-registration cost is $28 and late registration is $37.  Registration for children under 15 years old is $5 with a paid adult registration.

Pre-ride snacks and refreshments are provided as well as after the ride.  Mechanical, emergency, and sag support will be provided.  All riders MUST wear helmets and complete and sign the disclaimer form, one for each rider.
