Minnesota is known as the home of the great Paul Bunyan and his oxen Babe. They make thier home at Paul Bunyan Land at This Old Farm Pioneer Village 7 miles east of Brainerd on highway 18. Paul Bunyan is the world’s largest talking animated man, he has been talking to people for over 50 years! Then of course there is Babe the Blue Ox who is Paul’s best friend, they’ve been together the whole time. Now, along with those two there is Sport, the Reversible Dog.
At the park you will also have the opportunity to ride the roller coaster, the mini himalaya, the Space Shuttle, Kiddie Boats, The Merry-go-Round, the Ferris Wheel, Zumur, Tilt A Wheel, the railroad, Space Probe, Dodgem cars, Coke bouncer, Balloon Room, Kiddie Kanoe, Apple Ride and the Flying Cages.
At the same location is Birch Ridge Village, a walk through history by looking at all the antiques this family has collected over 4 generations. You will enjoy the experience and the young people will learn about how life used to be.
You will want to check out the Haunted Corn Maze if you are in the area in the fall. From dusk to dark it is just a fun maze but from dark until the last group gets through (last group enters at 10 PM) the Gouls, Goblins, Maniac Chainsaw Killers, Lichen, Vampires and alike come out from their place of hiding to search for thier nightly fill of screams and terror filled cries for help. Bring your friends and watch as the scream in terror.
The newest Paul can be found at the Brainerd Lakes Area Welcome Center on Hwy 371 South. Permanently seated outside the Welcome Center, Paul is eager to greet the children and adults that will stop to visit for generations to come.
