How do I find out about touring the Arctic Cat plant? I called a couple numbers and never was able to talk to anyone about when they were on production. I am planning avisit in late may, i am hoping to be able to see the plant. Can anyone help me out?

I plan to accompany a group of eight older adults on a trip next week and we will be visiting Forestville late Wednesday afternoon. I made a brief stop there last year in anticipation of this trip and found it to be quite nice.

Amboy is my home town too so it was a pleasure to be able to write about the school to let the thousands of people that come to our site know about Amboy and some of the history.
Wouldn’t it be neat to let everyone know about the cafe too? The cafe that was a gas station…that too is a neat story!

Nice to see this good article about out home town and the work that has been done on the school. My husband and I are on the board and appreciate all the work that has been done to restore this piece of history. Some of the students that came to town when the school closed were in my grade.

What a wonderful website! Including a one room schoolhouse among the attractions is so significant and meaningful. We received an excellent education in a lovely rural setting. The Stenberg girls walked a mile to get there and had countless adventures doing that. I’d like to add also that our younger sister, Virginia, attended Ridge School. Her teacher was Katie Sharp who was for sure the most beautiful teacher ever to lead Ridge. I have to think Katie and Virginia were joyous friendsand knowing her is a highlight in Virginia’s life. Joan and I had Nettie Johnson for five years. I’ll never forget her standing by the window on a cloudy day reading The Jungle Book. Best yet was the day the green curtain was put up and we could start practicing for the Christmas program. Those were the days…I thought they’d never end.

The dedication was superb, Harriet Grover Bonnett played the piano all afternoon featuring the really oldie goodie songs from the Golden Song book.
Blessed thanks to Les Curry for putting it all together in 2006and 2007.

The tours are a seasonal thing. Sometimes the plant shuts down for change in production. Make sure to double check.

I have German Luger holster that my father acquired while in WW II in Europe and I am just wondering if you would be interested in it. It has a spare magazine in the holster and both the holster ( it has a flap on it ) and the magazine appear to be in very good condition. If you are interested, you may have it, just let me know when the best time to bring it up to you would be.

I have toured you facility and one thing I forgot to ask is if you have maps on info on where you have cut timber over the last five to seven years. I enjoy grouse hunting in the area and would like to find areas that have had timber cut on public lands within the last 5 to 7 years in the Grand rapids area. ANy info would be appreciated.

My father worked for Hanna Mining Co. in Hibbing during the 1950’s. While working there, he received a “safety award” of 6 water glasses. He gave them to me 35 years ago and I have stored them and move (and stored and moved) them trying to keep them safe.

My family visited the cave during a family reunion that met in nearby Harmony. Although it was not a particularly spectacular cave, I was fascinated that such a place could exist beneath the nondescript farm fields. Except for the tourist-trap signs, one would have absolutely no clue that this vast network of tunnels existed beneath one’s feet! The enterprising family who owns the cave (at least the primary entrance to it) had the brilliant idea of building a wedding chapel down there. Not only did this create a destination–of sorts–where there is virtually no other for a hundred miles, it provides a natural setting for winter weddings, which is basically impossible anywhere else for a thousand miles! Unless, of course, you wished to have a wedding in the caves of the Black Hills of South Dakota–which I don’t think is allowed. It also is an excellent tornado shelter.

The hours on Mondays-Fridays are 9-4, and; I think that should change. Many students, including me, want to come tour the Capitol for school projects, but we can’t come over because it’s during school. I know school feild trips probably come, but the Capitol could be open until maybe 5:00 p.m. so students can come look.
